I am at home on Thursday.

Rick Mclemore died earlier this week and the funeral was tonight. [info]chaosmeika was supposed to go with me, but he got caught up in some zany adventure he will no doubt tell me later. I wasn't upset about it though. The man was the son of a lady at church that I occasionally e-mailed. He had all kind of health problems, most of which they tell me came from being exposed to Agent Orange in Vietnam. My uncle spoke and he did very well. It was his first time doing the funeral speech.

In other news, I did not get the job, but I'm not upset about that either. The other candidate just had more training in that department as she the student assistant there. However, Ivy said something about suggesting to Toni that we need a grant writer. HINT HINT WINK WINK. I should probably look up what grant writers do. (Don't say "write grants." I will stab you with my MIND.)

I think I did a good thing at work. I came up with a way to keep PDFs digital for ILL. Sure, we'll have to register two copies of Adobe Acrobat Professional, but we will recoup that in paper, I can assure you. It's kept me pretty busy at work, but it's pretty well settled. Now, I just have to make up all the stuff I haven't been doing because of it. I'm pretty happy at work these days because I always have something not terribly tedious to do.

Reading is going smoothly, if slowly. I think I will use this night of being home to finish off Blink. I also made a webpage detailing the stuff I have out of the library for my grandma for those people who wonder why there never seem to be any mystery novels on the new books shelf.

I saw Charlie and the Chocolate Factory last Friday. I enjoyed it very much, but I do not think I was as enchanted by it as the original. I would definitely like to see it again, though. I have BBC's copy of the book and it is next on my list.

I'm thinking of starting a book blog on Blogger. I enjoy my paper list, but perhaps it would be good to write down what I think of these books so I don't immediately forget them. At the very least, I can leave messages to myself like, "Do not read it again!" or "Good gravy. Buy this book now. Buy this book for your friends. Go. GO!" I'll link it when if I ever get it started.

Speaking of books and stuff, I went to my local library to check out Jonathan Strange as per your glowing recommendation, but discovered it to be immensely thick, of epic proportions. It sounds absolutely intriguing, but I believe I will have to build up some courage for it.

I believe I would highly enjoy a book blog written by the Beckers. You should do it!

Ha ha. Write Grants.

Really that's about it, but the actual writing of grants is a pretty involved process because one needs to research the grant granting organizations that you're petitioning in order to learn about what kinds of things they value and then tailor your proposal to highlight how your organization fits the values and goals of the grant granters.

Good idea with the book blog. (I need to update my own.) Also, that name sounds familiar.
